Kristin's No-Bake Banana Pudding Pie!

This no-bake banana pudding pie dish is super tasty! It was a great birthday gift from my daughter. It is great when someone creates a new recipe. Cooking is about creativity and sharing that creativity with other people. That's just my opinion about food.

Food can also be beautiful. I think about how food can be made to taste better and how it can be presented better. Cooking, baking, and sharing recipes really is fun to me. Food creates connections and nurtures relationships. Stories emerge around sharing food. Memories from the past and the creation of new memories we can recall in the future.

Thoughts On Pineapple Cheesecake:

I love cheesecake! Pineapple cheesecake is really good! I have a great memory of living in Honolulu, Hawaii when I was a small child. My dad was in the Army and we were stationed there. There are plenty of pineapple fields there. I remember one day we were allowed to get pineapple from the pineapple field. We took it home and cut it up for eating. The freshest pineapple in the world comes straight from the fields.

More Information On Pineapple Cheesecake:

This tangy and sweet dessert is easy to make and takes little time to prepare. This recipe came out in the early 1800s. It became really popular during the 1950s. My Thoughts For Today:

Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

A co-worker had a birthday and our nice manager decided to make a cake for her. My manager found Paula Deen's Ooey Gooey Butter Cake recipe and made it for the first time. She served it in the breakroom and not only did this cake look great, but it also tasted wonderful. I hadn't had gooey buttercake since I was a teenager. Gooey butter cake was always at our family reunions and I never failed to get a piece.

My manager said she was worried how the recipe would turn out but we reassured her it was perfect. This cake did have a side effect. After eating it and returning to work I felt like I needed a nap. The nap didn't happen. The birthday celebration for my co-worker did turn out nice.

Sweet dreams with this pie!

Daydream Pie Recipe - (Pies & Pastries)

Ingredients:

1/3 cup lemon juice
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
1 Cool Whip (8 ounces)
1 graham cracker crust
1 can of pie filling of your choice

Directions:

Whip 1/3 cup of lemon juice and 1 can of sweetened condensed milk together until it is slightly stiff. Add the 8 ounces of Cool Whip and beat until stiff. Pour the mixture into the graham cracker pie crust and top with the pie filling of your choice. Chill in the refrigerator.

Thoughts on Daydream Pie:

You are going to love the flavor of this pie! As I have mentioned in past posts, I love pie almost as much as I love cake. If you make this pie and share it with a friend, it is sure to get compliments. It is very easy to make this no-bake pie. I like cherry pie filling as a topping but you can experiment with different toppings you like. If you are new to baking, this pie recipe will work great for you to try.

More Information For You:

Pie goes all the way back to Egypt. The Egyptians were the first to make something closely resembling what we call pie today. There were other countries that made pies too throughout history. Pie bases had an interesting name that most would cringe at in England. You can learn more interesting facts about the evolution of the modern-day pie by visiting BBC's article called A shortcrust history of pies.

Some Questions For You:

What is your favorite pie? Have you tried this Daydream Pie Recipe? What is your favorite pie topping? Did you catch my last recipe? If you missed it, it's called Dutch Oven Barbecue Beef Recipe - And My Special Pork Steak Seasoning.

My Thoughts For Today:

Dolly Parton Yellow Cake Mix

My youngest daughter asked me to pick up a box of yellow cake mix. She wanted to bake a cake. When I was at the store I saw a yellow cake mix by Duncan Hines. It was a Dolly Parton's Yellow Favorite cake mix. I can't help but think how business-minded Dolly Parton is. I live near Branson, Missouri and I am familiar with Dolly Parton's Stampede in Branson. It is a dine-in rodeo show. I could create a pretty good-sized list of all the businesses she has. Dolly is an icon in entertainment and business. I have visited Dollywood in Tennessee and the park is very similar to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.

I have to mention that the cake turned out very good. My daughter is a great baker and the three-layer cake she baked tasted great. My daughter made the icing herself and it made the cake so much better. I took one taste of the icing and I was amazed. It was the BEST icing I have ever tasted. I am not exaggerating at all. My wife said the same thing. I asked my daughter if she had the icing recipe written down. I asked her if she wanted me to share the white icing recipe and she quickly said no. I am of the opinion that recipes are meant to be shared but there are two types of people when it comes to recipes. There are those who think recipes should be shared and then those who want to keep them secret. I understand that my daughter made her own recipe and all recipes come from somewhere. If she ever shares her white icing recipe I will be sure to share it here.

Kahlua Cake Recipe

A great holiday cake! Easy recipe!

Kahlua Cake Recipe - (Cakes)

Ingredients:

1 package (18.25 ounces) German chocolate cake mix
2/3 cup Kahlua liquor
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
3 eggs

Directions:

Combine the cake mix, Kahlua, oil, orange rind, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat for 2 minutes at the highest speed of the electric mixer. Line the bottom of 2 greased 9-inch round cake pans with waxed paper. Pour batter into pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Remove the cake from the pans, and cool it on the rack. Spread the filling between the layers and frost the cake.

Thoughts On Kahlua Cake:

Did anyone say cake? Cake is one of my favorite desserts and it is very difficult for me to pass a piece of cake by. Even if it is the store-bought birthday cake for someone in the work breakroom, I must get a piece.

German chocolate cake is a great cake and this recipe calls for Kahlua. The Kahlua has a dark chocolate flavor, and other flavors such as sweet butter, black coffee, roasted chestnut, and vanilla. Kahlua is a great-tasting liquor and adds a nice flavor to the German chocolate cake. The alcohol cooks out but you know that.

More Interesting Information:

Kahlua is one of the most popular and well-known liquors in the market today. Kahlua dates back to the 1930s and its birthplace is Mexico. One bottle takes several years to produce. There are many cooking and baking recipes that include Kahlua. You can learn more about Kahlua by visiting VINEPAIR's article called 10 Things You Should Know About Kahlua.

A Few Questions For You:

How many baked goods have you tried that have Kahlua in them? Have you tried a drink or a particular baked item? Have you tried Kahlua cake before? Please let me know your experience with this popular liquor. Did you see my last recipe? If you missed it, it is called Cracker Jack Cookies Recipe. Either one of these recipes is worth trying and sharing.

My Thoughts For Today:

Box turtle

Living in Southwest Missouri it is not uncommon to see box turtles. They come out in the spring to forage and mate. They eat vegetation to prepare for their winter hibernation. They get on the roads a lot and often times I have to dodge them while driving.

My oldest granddaughter has been asking her mom for a turtle. Today this turtle showed up in my yard. I believe it is a male box turtle. From what I understand, the males have bright colors and the females are mostly brown. I know my granddaughter will be very excited to receive her new pet. It will be a great educational opportunity to learn about box turtles, how to care for them, and experience letting the turtle go for the winter hibernation. I kept box turtles during the warm months when I was young and it was always fun.

Thoughts On Lemon Bars:

Anytime, I mean anytime these are presented to me I indulge myself. Lemon bars are really sweet and have a great lemon flavor. The powdered sugar sprinkled on top gives this dessert an added appeal. I know there are people that do not like the taste of lemons but that's fine for me. I will eat their portion of lemon bars any day. If you are looking for a dessert to share with someone, I would suggest you take these lemon bars. You can thank me later.

More Information For You:

Lemon bars are commonly seen in coffee shops. The contrast between the bar and coffee is a favored experience for many. The recipe for Lemon Bars is not that old. My Thoughts For The Day:

Happy Gardens Facebook Food Meme

Here is another food meme I found on Facebook. It's a little coincidental because a friend of mine I work with brought some homemade bacon her father cooked. Honestly, some of the best foods are homemade in my opinion. The bacon had the best-smoked bacon flavor I have tasted. I am a huge bacon fan and like bacon with my bacon. I am not sure what business posted this sign but I am willing to say they serve some kind of bacon food.

Blueberry Crisp Easy Recipe - Low Carb

You can afford ice cream on top of this recipe!

*Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest so you never miss a recipe.

Blueberry Crisp Easy Recipe - (Desserts) - Low Carb

Ingredients:

4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries (unsweetened)
12 packages of sugar substitute
2 2/3 cups cold water
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cornstarch (dissolve in 4 tablespoons water)
7 (3 ounces) large shredded wheat biscuits, crumbled
1/2 cup brown sugar substitute
4 tablespoons diet margarine, melted
4 tablespoons liquid butter flavoring
Sugar-free whipped topping, option (2 tablespoons free)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small saucepan, cook blueberries with sweetener, water, lemon juice, and salt. Stir in the cornstarch mixture. Pour into the bottom of the 9x13 baking dish. Mix biscuit crumbs, brown sugar substitute, margarine, and liquid butter flavoring. Sprinkle evenly over the berry mixture. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly. Serve plain or with sugar-free whipped topping.

Serves: 8 people

My Thoughts About Blueberry Crisp:

The days are getting cooler and I know you will agree with me, there is nothing quite as nice as some warm dessert with ice cream on top. This is a low-carb recipe and it won't hurt to add a dollop of topping of some kind. I may be a bad influence if you count carbohydrates, but ask yourself if you deserve it. I am willing to bet you do.

A recipe like this brings back memories for me. It is almost like what we call here in the Ozark's a "cobbler" and there is nothing that gets attention more at family reunions than a cobbler. My mother also would make cobbler. I would always enjoy smelling the dessert cooking in the oven. Sometimes I would get a taste of the filling before it baked. It was such a joy for me. So every time I see or taste this kind of dessert it is very nostalgic for me. The holidays are coming up and if you are looking for something to bring to family, this recipe may just be one that will get you a lot of "THANK YOU!" comments from the crowd.

Some Extra Information For You:

It was the Native Americans who Introduced blueberries to early settlers. The settlers loved it so much that it became a main dish and then moved on to the dessert table as a favorite. Blueberries are popular around the 4th of July because they are in peak season then. So like most people when hearing about blueberries you might associate blueberries with Independence Day. Did you know July is National Blueberry Month here in the United States? You can learn more about blueberries in America by visiting TasteAtlas.

A Question Or Two For You:

Have you ever been blueberry picking? I have and it is lots of fun. There is a local blueberry farm here in our area and every year it is open to the public. I took my daughters there and they loved picking blueberries. At the time it cost, from what I can remember, about four dollars a person. We were all given a small bucket and could pick until our bucket was full. We stored them in plastic bags and ate on them all through the winter. We would put them on our cereal and bake with them too.

Did you see my last recipe? This blueberry dessert would go well with it. My last recipe is called Tennessee Pride Hash Brown Casserole. If you missed it, take a look and let me know if you think these two recipes would pair up nicely.

My Personal Thoughts For Today:

Recently I purchased a portable dishwasher from a friend. It is in very good shape and I got a good deal. I have always hand-washed dishes in the home I currently live in. I have owned it since 2001 and never installed a dishwasher. I owned a home in Springfield, Missouri for about two years and I enjoyed the dishwasher there.

General Electric Portable Dishwasher with Countertop.

This dishwasher is a General Electric brand and it fits nicely next to my cook stove. I can load it as I use dishes and when it's full I simply roll it to the sick just a few feet away and hook it up for use. The hose in the back of the dishwasher connects to the sink. My faucet is not the right size for the connector so I have to modify it or get a new faucet. That is not an issue to get a different faucet. I was going to sell this house when we lived in Springfield but decided not to after my two oldest daughters moved out of the house in Springfield. I moved back to this smaller home and sold the larger one.

Kitchen faucet without faucet ring.

The connector hose would not fit on my faucet because the dishwasher hose connector is too small. My friend who sold me the dishwasher said she would give me an adaptor that would work for it. I am looking forward to trying this and hopefully, it works well. If you know me at all you know I try to add humor to any situation, although I truly am a very serious person. I am serious about humor. I was looking at the faucet ring and it looks just like a big finger ring. I slid it on and what do you know, it worked well!

My kitchen faucet ring. Not a biker ring!

I promptly went to my daughter's room and she was busy writing. After a minute she noticed it on my finger and asked me if I was turning into a biker person. She is so funny! I said, "No honey, I am not turning into a biker person." and we both laughed out loud. I explained to her I put the kitchen faucet ring on my finger and it just looks like a biker ring, but without the skull. It is little funny moments like this I try to create that have lasting memories for me. I love to laugh and be happy! I hope I made you smile a little reading this. Thanks for reading! Leave a comment because I would love to hear from you.
