Brown Sugar Pound Cake With Walnut Glaze Recipe

The Walnut Glaze is WONDERFUL!

Brown Sugar Pound Cake With Walnut Glaze Recipe - (Cakes)

Quote For The Day:

"Cakes are special. Every birthday and every celebration ends with something sweet, a cake, and people remember. It's all about the memories." - Buddy Valastro

My Thoughts For Today:

Jalapeno Cheddar Loaf

My oldest daughter just keeps on blessing us with her sourdough bread. This loaf of bread is Jalapeno Cheddar Loaf. It tastes wonderful. She made a nice swirl design on top for a great presentation.

I told her she might consider making a Facebook page to sell her sourdough bread. I am not sure of the local prices for loaves of sourdough bread but I would easily pay $10 for a loaf of this. It is worth it in my opinion. She has been making sourdough bread for some time now and she shares them with us. People love this bread and they would rather purchase it from bakers instead of making it themselves.

Do you like sourdough bread? I have some strawberry preserves that will go well with this bread. We have sliced this sourdough bread into sandwich slices and it makes great sandwich bread. The spicy jalapenos along with the cheddar cheese that's in it compliments the sliced meat we eat.

My daughter currently has a TikTok page you can visit to see all her videos. See her TikTok page called Kristin Loves Jesus.

Some Questions For You:

  • Do you like sourdough bread?
  • Does my Brown Sugar Pound Cake recipe look good to you?
  • Have you tried making sourdough bread or pound cake before? Here's a great baking pan for pound cake.
  • Did you read my recipe that was posted yesterday? It is called Lamb Curry Recipe and if you are craving Indian food it is a great one to try. I would love to read your thoughts on it.

More Information For You:

History shows that Brown Sugar Pound Cake came out of Northern Europe. A recipe was first published in 1747. An American recipe was published in 1796. Since then, there have been many variations of the pound cake. Later an Indian pound cake recipe was created. You can learn more about Brown Sugar Pound Cake and its history by visiting here.

Thoughts On Brown Sugar Pound Cake With Walnut Glaze:

This recipe is a great blend of brown sugar and walnuts in this Old-Fashion cake. The glaze recipe is wonderful! You can use a bundt cake pan or a fluted cake pan. Either one will turn out nice. I like using a bundt cake pan because it makes it nice to cut the perfect portion.

I enjoy a nice cup of coffee with my Brown Sugar Pound Cake. What beverage do you like with your cake? Many people enjoy a glass of milk.

Grasshoppper Pie Recipe - No Bake

Creamy No-bake and refreshing!

>>>See all my recipes here!<<<

Grasshopper Pie Recipe - No-bake - (Pies & Pastries)

Quote For The Day:

“I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.” ― W.C. Fields

My Thoughts For Today:

Sparkler Illusion.

It has been a few years back but I wanted to share a picture that was taken of me twirling a sparkler on July 4th. I am not sure of the exact date but I think it was 2020. That is the date posted on my Instagram.

July is a great time for our family not only because we celebrate Independence Day but also because of the food and fireworks that accompany it. We lived in West Tennessee mostly through the 90s and discovered great barbecue there.

While living in Tennessee we would visit local barbecue restaurants and they would serve barbecue pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw on them. I had never had barbecue sandwiches that way before and it seemed a little odd to me at first. Once I tried the sandwiches I never wanted them any other way. I love cabbage any way it is cooked. I even like cabbage raw.

We also discovered barbecue bologna sandwiches while living in Tennessee. So now my tradition is cooking barbecue bologna on the charcoal grill and serving the sandwiches with coleslaw on the sandwich. What do you think about that combination? We only do that once a year but the family enjoys it and looks forward to it each year. If you have never tried barbecue bologna with coleslaw on top, I would like to encourage you to try it.

I like to buy beef bologna and have it sliced at least half an inch thick for the grill. Nothing beats the taste of beef bologna or beef hotdogs. If you like barbecue, beef bologna, and coleslaw, you will love this combination. I would like to know your initial thoughts on this.

Some Questions For You:

  • Have you tried Grasshopper Pie before?
  • Do you like mint and chocolate?
  • Do you like creme de menthe or creme de cacao?
  • Do you know the history behind Grasshopper Pie? I will share more about Grasshopper Pie here.
  • Did you catch my recipe blog post from yesterday? It is called Pork Chop Casserole Recipe and it is a great casserole dish. I could go in the category of Main Dishes-Pork here but it is filled with potatoes and cream of mushroom soup baked in a casserole pan.

More Information On Grasshopper Pie:

Grasshopper Pie was derived from the alcoholic cocktail drink called The Grasshopper. It is said that the Grasshopper Pie was invented in New Orleans during the early 1900s. It became most popular during the 1960s and was served mostly at home parties. You can learn more interesting facts about Grasshopper Pie by visiting Quaint Cooking and reading their informative article called The History Of Grasshopper Pie.

Thoughts On Grasshopper Pie:

This pie is a chocolate wafer crust with a creamy mint pie filling that is cold and has creme de menthe, and creme de cacao in it along with marshmallow and heavy whipping cream. There are non-alcoholic variations of this recipe you will enjoy if you don't like the alcohol taste. You can keep this pie in the freezer for a month if needed. Please share your thoughts with me here. I would like to know what you think.

Grasshopper Pie Recipe - No Bake - (Pies & Pastries)

To serve, cut small slices, and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry.

My Thoughts For Today:

Bella our Beagle

Many times when I am typing out recipes for you to read our sweet beagle likes to lay on my lap. She is very spoiled and likes belly rubs. Most times I am writing from my resting chair instead of the desk. Bella takes the opportunity to jump in my lap. House dogs can make things difficult sometimes but they really are like family. They take a lot of time but they are well worth it. Do you have a family pet? Are you a dog lover or a cat lover? Maybe you are both. Some people do not have pets at all and that is very understandable. I know people with pet allergies who can't have pets in the house. I feel sad for those people. I would love to know about your pet. Another question, what kind of food do you feed your pet? I am always interested in the health of our pets and your feedback on the type of pet food you recommend would be very helpful. Please leave a comment below and let me know.

Some Questions For You:

Peppermint Ice Cream Homemade Recipe

Delicious in warm weather!

Peppermint Ice Cream Homemade Recipe - (Cool Treats)

Ingredients:

  • Peppermint candy (27 ounces, cracked into small pieces)
  • 2 quarts half & half
  • 1-quart heavy whipping cream

Directions:

Soak the peppermint candy pieces overnight in the half & half. The next day, place the mixture in a blender. cover and blend well. Add the heavy whipping cream. Freeze in a 1-gallon ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. Serve and enjoy!

Thoughts On Peppermint Ice Cream:

Homemade ice cream is fun to make and the kids can get involved in the making process. When my daughters were growing up I would get out the old hand crank ice cream maker and have them crank the ice cream. They would take turns. They seemed to enjoy it and today they talk about making ice cream when they were little. This recipe does not have sugar in it but if you find it is not sweet enough for you then you can add a little sugar.

More Information For You:

Do you know the history of peppermint? Peppermint is one of the most popular flavors at Christmas time in America but it is also a favorite flavor during the whole year too. You can date peppermint back to 1500 B.C. It was used in many different ways. Peppermint is also healthy for your body. Learn more about the history of peppermint by visiting Cheryl's article called The History of Peppermint: How a Mediterranean Herb Became the Unofficial Flavor of Christmas.

A Few Questions For You:

  • Are you a peppermint fan?
  • In what ways have you used peppermint for cooking?
  • When you hear the word "peppermint" what is the first thing that comes to mind?
  • What is your favorite peppermint food?
  • Did you see my recipe from yesterday? It is called the Peach-A-Berry Cobbler Recipe. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comment section below.

My Thoughts For Today:

Our new ice cream maker!

This ice cream maker has replaced the old hand-crank maker, which is nice to use. I ordered it from Amazon and got a pretty good deal on it. It is easier than turning the ice cream with my arm. It is convenient to purchase ice cream from the store but when making homemade ice cream you can experiment with different recipes. Chocolate ice cream is always a favorite for me but this peppermint recipe is perfect too. It is starting to get warmer outside and it is lots of fun to operate this ice cream maker for the warm holiday. The fourth of July is coming soon and we always like to make ice cream for dessert.

Do you enjoy homemade ice cream? What is your favorite flavor? Share your ice cream experience with me.

Thoughts On Peach-A-Berry Cobbler:

This Peach-A-Berry Cobbler recipe is a great cobbler dessert! As mentioned in the recipe, the blueberries are optional. If you love peaches and blueberries, this cobbler will delight you. I've always enjoyed ice cream with my cobbler; vanilla is my favorite. I'm a coffee lover too, and a good cup of black coffee goes well for me. What do you think?

Help for our puppy.

My youngest daughter has a Beagle and we love her very much. She is such a good dog. We noticed she has not been acting well lately. She wants to go outside to go to the bathroom a lot. I thought she might have a bladder issue so I ordered some cranberry cleanse medicine for dogs. I hope this will help her. I ordered it last night and it should be delivered tomorrow. If you have any experience with this kidney cleanse product please let me know your experience. Keep our Bella in your thoughts.

Easy Hot Fudge - Old Fashioned Recipe - (Sauces)

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons cocoa

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Thoughts On Easy Hot Fudge - Old Fashioned:

You just pulled ice cream out of the freezer to satisfy your craving, and you realized ice cream alone will NOT CUT IT! What to do? You must have a hot fudge on top! This recipe tastes great and much better than the store-bought. You can sprinkle with chopped nuts or candy sprinkles if you want to add even more sugar.

More Information For You:

This is not your Mom's hot fudge! The history of this recipe goes back a little further. Hot fudge is a chocolate sauce that never really sets. Hot fudge comes from England. Read what Kitchen Lane has to say about the history of Hot Fudge.

Some Questions For You:

  • Do you like hot fudge as an ice cream topping?
  • Have you made your own hot fudge before?
  • Do you have a better hot fudge recipe to share?
  • Did you see my recipe from yesterday? If you didn't it is called Apple Bread Pudding Recipe.

My Thoughts For Today:

Giant moth!

Ok, I know this is a recipe blog and maybe giant moths have nothing to do with recipes or cooking. I want to share my day with you and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to let you see this picture. I currently work a full-time job outside of my recipe blog. A friend at work told me they found a giant moth and she snapped a picture. I asked her to send me the picture so I could show my teenage daughter. This moth is amazing! I have no idea what kind of moth it is but it is the largest I have seen. Do you know what kind this is?

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 cups apples (diced)

Directions:

Cream sugar and shortening. Add flour which has been sifted with baking soda. Add salt, cinnamon, beaten egg and mix well. Then, add nuts, raisins, apples, cinnamon, and beaten egg, and mix well. Then add to the baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

Thoughts On Apple Bread Pudding:

This dessert can be topped with your favorite ice cream. It is best fresh out of the oven. I like to sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the ice cream. If you are a coffee drinker like me, a hot cup of coffee goes well with this Apple Bread Pudding. When I was a teenager I worked at a local family restaurant. It was my first job. The restaurant had a weekly buffet on Sundays. They served bread pudding. It was the first time I tried bread pudding. The owners allowed us to charge any food we ate and they would deduct it from our paycheck at the end of the week. I always had something to eat there and bread pudding was delicious. It was deducted from my paycheck.

More Information For You:

Bread pudding goes back to the 11th century. It also was found in many countries. It was originally made for low-income people in different cultures but today has a better reputation. It is no longer considered a penny-pincher recipe. You can learn more interesting facts about Bread Pudding by visiting Oh Danish Bakery.

My Thoughts For Today:

My mother's father.

This is my grandfather. He is my mother's father. He is holding his first great-great-granddaughter. This picture was taken several years ago. Today he is 94 years old. I have many memories of my grandfather. He served in the United States Navy and was in the Korean War. He served on a ship they nicknamed the "Tin Can" and shared many memories with me of his time there. I believe he said the ship was a "Destroyer" ship and is now a retired ship. The ship was named U.S.S. Potter. I love hearing about his time serving in the Navy.

My grandfather likes to make banana bread. I haven't had his banana bread in some time but I always enjoy it. You can see the tattoos on his arm in the picture. It was very taboo in his time for people to have tattoos but it was a common thing to have in the Navy as a memento. He has a Hula girl tattooed on his arm and when I was a child he would show it to me. He would flex his arm muscles and make the Hula girl dance. It always made me laugh.

Some Questions For You:

  • Do you like Greek food?
  • Do you like Greek desserts in particular?
  • Have you tried Karidopita Greek Spiced Walnut Cake before?
  • Did you read yesterday's recipe?
My recipe from yesterday is called Shrimp Curry With Basmati Rice and if you love Indian food then I am sure you will love this recipe. Check it out and let me know what you think! Your feedback is important to me.

My Thoughts For Today:

Let sleeping dogs lie.

This is my youngest daughter's dog. He is very small. He is also very sweet and spoiled. I am mostly to blame for him being so spoiled. He loves to lay on my lap and nap while I write. If you look up "lap dog" in the dictionary you will probably see this picture of him on my lap. You could say he is the "Poster Dog" for lap dogs. So when you read my posts there is a great chance this little dog is lying on my lap making it difficult for me to work. It's ok. I love that little dog.

I got to attend a birthday party today for a little relative. It was the 3rd birthday party for my great-nephew. He is a cool little guy and reminds me of his dad when he was that age. Kids and dogs grow too fast. I believe it is best to enjoy them when they are small and do our best to make them happy.

Keep on cooking!
