Great No-Bake Recipe!

No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars: Easy Dessert Recipe & Healthy Treat
Indulge Guilt-Free with This Simple, High-Protein, Gluten-Free Sweet!

Craving something sweet but don't want to spend hours in the kitchen? Looking for a dessert that satisfies your chocolate and peanut butter desires without the guilt? You've come to the right place! Get ready to discover your new favorite treat: No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars.

This recipe isn't just easy; it's a game-changer. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a kitchen novice, these bars are foolproof. They require no oven, minimal ingredients, and deliver maximum flavor. Plus, we've designed this recipe to be not only delicious but also a healthier alternative to many traditional desserts, offering a good source of protein and being naturally gluten-free.

Why No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars Are Your New Best Friend

Let's face it, life is busy. Sometimes, the thought of preheating the oven, measuring out precise dry ingredients, and waiting for things to bake can be daunting. That's where no-bake desserts shine! They're perfect for:

  • Busy Weeknights: Whip them up in minutes after dinner.
  • Impromptu Gatherings: A quick and impressive treat for unexpected guests.
  • Hot Summer Days: No need to heat up your kitchen.
  • Beginner Bakers: A fantastic entry point into the world of desserts without the complexities of baking.
  • Anyone with a Sweet Tooth: Pure, unadulterated deliciousness with minimal effort.

But these aren't just any no-bake bars. We've specifically crafted this recipe to hit all the right notes:

  • Irresistible Flavor Combination: Chocolate and peanut butter are a classic pairing for a reason. The rich, slightly bitter chocolate perfectly complements the creamy, salty-sweet peanut butter, creating a harmonious symphony of taste.
  • Satisfying Texture: A firm, chewy base topped with a smooth, decadent chocolate layer. Each bite is a textural delight.
  • Dietary Friendly: Naturally gluten-free and easily adaptable for other dietary needs (we'll cover that later!).
  • Good Source of Protein: Thanks to the peanut butter, these bars offer a decent protein boost, making them a more satisfying snack or dessert that can help keep you feeling full.
  • Kid-Friendly: A hit with the younger crowd, making them a great option for family treats or lunchbox additions (if school allows nuts).

Ready to dive in and create some magic? Let's get started!

Nutritional Information: No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

We believe in enjoying delicious food while also being mindful of what we consume. While these are a dessert, we've packed them with ingredients that offer some nutritional benefits. Please note that nutritional information may vary depending on the specific brands of ingredients used. This is an estimated breakdown per serving (assuming 16 servings per recipe).

Per Serving (Estimated):

  • Calories: Approximately 250-280 kcal
  • Total Fat: 18-20g
    • Saturated Fat: 8-10g
  • Cholesterol: 0-5mg
  • Sodium: 100-120mg
  • Total Carbohydrates: 18-22g
    • Dietary Fiber: 2-3g
    • Total Sugars: 12-15g (varies based on type of chocolate and sweetener used)
  • Protein: 8-10g

Key Nutritional Highlights:

  • Healthy Fats: Peanut butter provides monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are important for heart health.
  • Protein Power: A significant amount of protein per serving, helping with satiety and muscle repair.
  • Fiber: The oats and peanut butter contribute dietary fiber, aiding in digestion and blood sugar regulation.
  • Antioxidants: Dark chocolate is known for its antioxidant properties.

Tips for Making Them Even Healthier:

  • Opt for Natural Peanut Butter: Choose peanut butter with only peanuts and salt as ingredients to avoid added sugars and unhealthy oils.
  • Use Dark Chocolate: The higher the cocoa percentage, the less sugar and more antioxidants.
  • Reduce Sweetener: If you prefer less sweet, you can slightly reduce the amount of powdered sugar in the base or opt for a less sweet chocolate.
  • Add Flaxseed or Chia Seeds: A tablespoon or two of ground flaxseed or chia seeds can be incorporated into the base for an extra boost of fiber and omega-3s.

Ingredients: Your Shopping List for Deliciousness

Gathering your ingredients is the first step to dessert bliss! The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and the likelihood that you already have most of these staples in your pantry.

For the Peanut Butter Base:

  • 1 ½ cups (about 135g) Quick-Cooking Oats: Quick oats work best for their fine texture, which helps bind the base together smoothly. Rolled oats can be used, but you might want to pulse them a few times in a food processor to break them down slightly.
  • 1 cup (about 250g) Creamy Peanut Butter: Natural creamy peanut butter is preferred for its pure flavor and healthier profile. If using very stiff natural peanut butter, you might need to warm it slightly to make it easier to mix. Avoid "no-stir" or heavily processed varieties that often contain hydrogenated oils and extra sugars.
  • ½ cup (1 stick or 113g) Unsalted Butter, melted: Melting the butter helps bind the ingredients together and provides a rich flavor and smooth texture.
  • 1 cup (about 120g) Powdered Sugar (Confectioners' Sugar): This provides sweetness and helps create a smooth, dense base. Using powdered sugar rather than granulated sugar ensures a no-grainy texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract: A touch of vanilla enhances all the flavors and adds a warm, inviting aroma.
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt: Crucial for balancing the sweetness and enhancing the peanut butter flavor. Don't skip it!

For the Chocolate Topping:

  • 1 ½ cups (about 250g) Chocolate Chips: You can use semi-sweet, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate chips, depending on your preference. For a richer, less sweet bar, opt for dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa).
  • ¼ cup (½ stick or 56g) Unsalted Butter: This helps create a smooth, glossy, and sliceable chocolate topping.
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (dairy or non-dairy): Just a splash helps achieve the perfect pourable consistency for the chocolate.
  • Pinch of Salt: A tiny bit of salt in the chocolate topping enhances the chocolate flavor and cuts through the sweetness.

Instructions: Crafting Your No-Bake Masterpiece

Now for the fun part – assembling your delicious no-bake chocolate peanut butter bars! Follow these simple steps, and you'll have a delightful dessert ready in no time.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Chill Time: 1-2 hours Servings: 16 bars

Equipment You'll Need:

  • 9x13 inch baking dish (glass or metal)
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Medium microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Prepare Your Baking Dish. Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving an overhang on the sides. This "sling" will make it incredibly easy to lift the bars out of the pan once they're chilled and ready to cut. If you're using foil, spray it lightly with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Base. In a large mixing bowl, combine the quick-cooking oats, creamy peanut butter, melted unsalted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon of salt.

  • Tip for Mixing: Start by stirring with a sturdy spoon or spatula. As the ingredients combine, you might find it easier to use your hands to really work everything together. The mixture should be thick, cohesive, and resemble a very thick dough. It shouldn't be crumbly; if it is, add another tablespoon or two of melted butter or peanut butter until it comes together.

Step 3: Press the Base into the Pan. Evenly press the peanut butter mixture into the prepared 9x13-inch baking dish. Use the back of a spoon, a spatula, or even your hands (lightly dampened to prevent sticking) to press the mixture down firmly and evenly. Make sure it's compacted, reaching all corners of the pan. The more compressed it is, the less crumbly your bars will be.

Step 4: Chill the Base. Place the pan with the peanut butter base in the refrigerator while you prepare the chocolate topping. This helps the base firm up slightly, making it easier to top with chocolate.

Step 5: Prepare the Chocolate Topping. In a medium microwave-safe bowl (or a small saucepan over low heat on the stovetop), combine the chocolate chips, ¼ cup unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon milk, and a pinch of salt.

  • Microwave Method: Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate, as it can seize or burn.
  • Stovetop Method: Gently melt the ingredients over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and glossy. Remove from heat as soon as it's melted.

Step 6: Pour and Spread the Chocolate Topping. Retrieve the chilled peanut butter base from the refrigerator. Pour the melted chocolate topping evenly over the peanut butter layer. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to gently spread the chocolate to cover the entire surface, creating a smooth and even layer.

Step 7: Chill Until Set. Return the baking dish to the refrigerator. Allow the bars to chill for at least 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate topping is completely firm and set. For best results and easier slicing, chill them for at least 2 hours or even overnight.

Step 8: Slice and Serve. Once the bars are thoroughly chilled and firm, lift them out of the pan using the parchment paper or foil overhang. Place them on a cutting board.

  • For Clean Slices: Use a large, sharp knife. For really clean cuts, you can warm your knife under hot water, dry it, and then make each cut. Wipe the knife clean between slices if the chocolate starts to stick.
  • Cut into 16 even bars (4 rows by 4 rows).

Step 9: Enjoy and Store! Serve your delicious No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars immediately!

Storage: Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 2-3 months. If freezing, separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.

Tips for Success and Variations

  • Peanut Butter Consistency: If your natural peanut butter is very oily, give it a good stir before measuring. If it's very dry, you might need an extra tablespoon of melted butter or a touch more peanut butter in the base.
  • Sweetness Adjustment: If you prefer a less sweet dessert, you can slightly reduce the amount of powdered sugar in the base (e.g., to ¾ cup), or use extra dark chocolate for the topping.
  • Nut Butter Alternatives: While peanut butter is classic, you can experiment with other creamy nut or seed butters! Cashew butter, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter (for nut-free options) can all work. The texture might vary slightly, so adjust the melted butter/milk as needed.
  • Add-ins for the Base: Get creative! Stir in mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts (peanuts, pecans), or even a tablespoon of shredded coconut into the peanut butter base for extra texture and flavor.
  • Topping Variations:
    • Sprinkles: Add some colorful sprinkles to the top of the chocolate before it sets for a festive touch.
    • Sea Salt: A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top of the melted chocolate before it sets adds a sophisticated sweet-and-salty contrast.
    • Swirl Design: Drizzle some melted white chocolate or extra peanut butter over the dark chocolate layer and swirl with a toothpick for a marbled effect.
    • Chopped Nuts: Sprinkle chopped peanuts or other nuts over the top of the chocolate before it sets.
  • Gluten-Free Oats: Ensure you are using certified gluten-free oats if you need to maintain a strictly gluten-free recipe.
  • Vegan Option: To make these bars vegan, use a plant-based butter substitute (like Miyoko's Kitchen Cultured Vegan Butter or Earth Balance Vegan Butter Sticks) and dairy-free chocolate chips. Ensure your powdered sugar is vegan (some brands use bone char in processing).

Fudge Bake Happiness Recipe

Baked Fudge that will make you HAPPY!

>>>See all my recipes here!<<<

Fudge Bake Happiness Recipe

Quote For The Day:

"Nowadays I find chocolate and/or chocolate-based snacks to be great motivators. Everyone loves chocolate. If someone has a lot of work to do, put a piece of fudge in a glass container (so they can see it) and let them know that if they accomplish their tasks, they can eat the fudge. You'll definitely get a reaction!" -Michael Scott

Food For Thought:

The salad I was not happy with!

I was not too long ago I purchased salad on my phone and scheduled to pick it up along with other items I had ordered. I drove to the store and received my items. When I returned home and unpacked my items I noticed the salad did not look the greatest. I was disappointed.

My first thought was to call the store and complain. Then I thought I would leave a bad review. If I had gone into the store myself and handpicked the bag salad I would not have chosen the one they had given me. I wondered why the person who picked the salad for me picked this bag. Were they not paying attention? Did they pick that bag on purpose? What was I going to do about this situation?

I didn't eat the salad. I threw it out. I decided not to complain to the store. I chose not to say anything. I decided to go to the store and pick the bag of salad I wanted next time.

Has this type of thing happened to you before? I hope you have not experienced this. What would you have done in this situation? I am interested in your thoughts about this bag of salad. I think most people would say something but would it do any good? There are many questions that can be asked about this situation and many answers to the questions.

I don't know if I did the right thing or the wrong thing. I think it would have been good to say something about it. As I reflect on this bag of salad I recall many situations in life where something happened that I was not happy with and decided to say nothing. Some things have happened in my past where I did say something because I was unhappy.

I have learned to "pick my battles" in life. When is the right time to say something? When is the wrong time to say something? I believe weighing the cost of saying something is important. What will it cost me to stand my ground on something I believe strongly in? Maybe it will take time? Maybe the person I say something to will retaliate? There is always a cost of some kind.

One thing for sure about me, when I believe so strongly in something, I will raise the issue. What do you think? Can you relate to this situation or similar situations in your life? Your feedback is important to me and I would love to hear from you.

More Information For You:

We are not sure the exact history of fudge but it is delicious and had been around for a very long time. It is rumored that fudge came from America. Fudge gets its name from the creation process. Thoughts On Fudge Bake Happiness:

I live near a place that makes lots of fudge. I love going into the fudge store and looking at all of the fudge. I love the different flavors of fudge the store has. Each fudge has its own incredible look and taste. When I think of fudge I think of the holidays. Maybe because a lot of fudge is made around Christmas time. When you hear the word "fudge" what comes to your mind?

Fudge Browinies

My youngest daughter makes the best fudge brownies. Her brownies have a thick rich layer of fudge on top. It is not an icing. It is a fudge and a good mix of fudge and brownie. She sold her fudge brownies and other baked goods at a local Farmer's Market. She almost always sold out at the market.

Large Devil's Food Cake and Easy Fudge Icing Recipe

Not your box recipe!

Large Devil's Food Cake and Easy Fudge Icing Recipe

Quote For The Day:

"If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with him... The people who give you their food give you their heart." - Cesar Chavez

Food For Thought:

Photo credit: Peace, Love and Smiles - Facebook

When I was growing up these Tupperware Hourglass salt and pepper shakers were in almost every home I went into. It was the 1980s, I had a bicycle, there was no Internet, I had lots of friends, and all my friends had moms with these salt and pepper shakers.

If you are looking for these shakers you may find them in a thrift store with a decent price on them. The Tupperware brand shakers are pricey today. You can get a cheaper set here. The benefit of these hourglass-shaped shakers is you don't have to fill them often.

I have this memory of my grandfather and his work lunchbox. I would sometimes peek inside his lunchbox. The contents were always the same. He kept a very small salt shaker in his lunchbox. He kept a peach of plastic wrap over the top of the shaker with a rubber band. I am guessing this kept the shaker from spilling salt in his lunchbox.

A Few Questions For You:

  • Are you a Devil's Food Cake fan?
  • Box cakes are easy, but have you made your own Devil's Food Cake?
  • What is your favorite garnish for cake?
  • Do you have a Devil's Food Cake recipe that you consider to be superior to this one?
  • Did you read the recipe that I shared yesterday? It is called Baked Macaroni and Cheese With Tomatoes Recipe. It is not your regular-tasting baked macaroni.

Extra Information For You:

Devil's Food Cake is a little over 120 years old since it first came into the cake scene. It is a rich chocolate cake with creamy fudge icing. Devil's Food cake is one of the most popular cakes today. There are many variations of this recipe. The dark color of this cake was created to contrast with traditional light-colored cakes. The dark color was not necessarily for the taste. Learn more about the history of Devil's Food Cake by visiting Cheryl's Cookies.

When I am in the chocolate cake mood, Devil's Food Cake is what I crave. I love this cake so much! It is easy to grab a box cake and a can of premade icing but there is something nice about baking a fresh from scratch Devil's Food Cake. Southern Chocolate Gravy Recipe

Biscuits, pancakes, or waffles!

Southern Chocolate Gravy Recipe - (Sauces)

Ingredients:

5 tablespoons cocoa (heaping)
4 cups sugar
1 can pet evaporated milk (12 ounces)
1/2 stick of butter

Directions:

Use a large skillet if you have one. Mix sugar and cocoa together and gradually add pet milk. Stir and mix all together. Place on medium to high heat and stir as the mixture begins to get hot. As you see the mixture beginning to bubble start gradually turning heat back to medium. Continue to boil and stir as you gradually reduce the heat to medium. You want continuous bubbles but do not cook fast. Turn to low add 1/2 stick of butter and stir. The gravy is thin and does not have to be really thick.

Thoughts On Chocolate Gravy:

The whole process does not take more than 10-12 minutes to cook. Pour over hot biscuits, pancakes, or waffles. Serve with scrambled eggs and breakfast meat. This recipe does not have four so it will seem less grainy in texture. I prefer chocolate gravy like this but you can try other recipes with flour to see what you like.

More Information On Chocolate Gravy:

I found a great article by Allrecipes called Why Southerners Are Obsessed With Chocolate Gravy (and Why You Should Be, Too) that you will enjoy.

Quick Question Or Two For You:

People either like chocolate gravy or they don't. Which one are You? Reply to this post and let me know. Also, did you see my last recipe? It is called Strawberry Pretzel Pie and I know you will enjoy it.

My Thoughts For The Day:

Just to spark your imagination.

I remember being in my pre-teens and getting to visit my great-grandmother on my dad's side of the family. She lived in Oklahoma. It was a small country farmhouse and I would say around three bedrooms from my memory. The picture above is not a picture of the farmhouse. I wanted to share with you the "feeling" that a childhood experience in Oklahoma might be like.

One of my fondest memories was waking up early in the morning to my great-grandmother cooking breakfast. I could smell the scent of bacon in the air. She always had her hair pulled back into a tight little bun. She wore wire-rim glasses and a dress with an apron while she cooked. There was an old metal ladle hanging at the kitchen sink to get a drink of water from the sink.

Eggs, bacon, biscuits, white gravy, and of course she would make chocolate gravy. I always loved the chocolate gravy. Unfortunately, I do not have her recipe but this one is very close. I would love to know your thoughts on chocolate gravy.

Keep on cooking!

My Thoughts On Choco-Holic Ho Ho Cake:

I love the Hostess Ho Ho's but this recipe takes the cake! Literally! It is an easy recipe with three steps but you will be glad when you cut yourself a piece of this chocolate lover's delight. If you like coffee it would go great with it too. You will be sure to win some people over with this recipe.

Extra Information For You:

Mr. McKee started selling 5-cent cakes in 1933. Then in 1935, he came out with the Oatmeal Creme Pie. Since then, the family has been selling great dessert cakes. Hostess has the Ho Ho's and The Little Debbie company has the Swiss Roll. They are comparable and both are tasty. You can learn more about Little Debbie and its history by visiting their site in this post.

Question For You:

What is your favorite snack cake? The Hostess Ho Ho or Little Debbie's Swiss Roll? I am sure after you try your hand at my Choco-Holic Ho Ho Cake you will love it the best. Did you see my last recipe? It is also a dessert recipe and it's called Brown Edge Saucies Easy Recipe. It is an applesauce cookie recipe.

Personal Thoughts For Today:

It's starting to get cooler and you know what that means. It's time to make a fire outside in the firepit and enjoy the warmth with family or friends.

My backyard metal firepit with stars cut in the side.

My daughter asked me recently if we could make a fire. It is such a great thing to do and a great excuse to roast hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire.  I had to get some beef hotdogs because they are the best tasting in my opinion and some marshmallows. I found some graham crackers with cinnamon and sugar on them along with a Hershey's milk chocolate bar for making smores. I only had one but it was so good.

The Smore I made. You know the recipe.

I had some wood logs left over from last year that I purchased from the store. I don't live in the country so I am forced to buy wood for the firepit. I do live in town and have some trees that create small wood in the yard but I use that for getting the fire started.

An Update On My Wood Pellet Stove:

I got the hole cut in my chimney to run my metal stovepipe through for the exhaust. I figured out how to get cool air from outside based on the location of my wood pellet stove. I am drilling a hole in the floor behind the wood stove and running my intake hose under the house using a plastic pipe. The pipe leads to the vent in the side of my house and is almost exactly where I need it. It will work out great and I am going to be posting more pictures as I get it installed.

Today I am going to the Lowe's store. I will be looking at more exhaust pipe to complete the job and a stove plate to sit the wood pellet stove on. The idea for the stove plate is to catch any ashes that might fall out of the stove and to help protect the floor under the stove as well.

It is 57 degrees today so it is a little cooler and I had to put on my pullover hoodie. I think it will be warmer tomorrow and will give me a chance to work on installing the cool air intake system I have designed. I was thinking about making a video to post on my YouTube channel so you can see it after I have it installed. Please subscribe so you won't miss my videos.

Beef hotdogs over my fire pit.

I hope you enjoyed my post for today. If you have a fire pit, it is a good thing to get out and use it this time of the year. It will give you a chance to unwind and forget about work or whatever you have been distracted by recently. If you don't have a fire pit, maybe you know someone who does. Thanks for reading and be sure to share my Choco-Holic Ho Ho Cake with a friend.
